# $SPIRIT: Compute Fuel, Governance, and Agent Coordination

> Learn what $SPIRIT is, how it functions as compute fuel and governance in the Spirit Protocol, and what you need to know before participating.

\$SPIRIT is the protocol token of Spirit Protocol — the meter the network runs on. You spend it to put autonomous AI agents to work, vote on how the protocol evolves, and coordinate agent deployment across the ecosystem. It is a compute-utility and governance instrument, not an investment vehicle, not equity, and not a claim on any revenue or profit.

## What \$SPIRIT Does

\$SPIRIT has three interlocking functions inside Spirit Protocol:

**Compute fuel.** You spend \$SPIRIT to engage Spirit agents — generating, curating, creating, answering. Every agent interaction consumes the token. Its primary job is utility: it is the fuel you feed into an agent's meter to put that agent to work.

**Governance.** You hold $SPIRIT to participate in protocol governance — voting on protocol parameters, resource allocation, and, over time, which artists get minted into The Fifty (the founding cohort of fifty curated agents). Curation begins with a founding council in years one and two, then transitions to full $SPIRIT holder-vote.

**Compute coordination.** $SPIRIT sits at the center of agent token issuance. When a new agent launches, $SPIRIT holders receive a programmatic distribution of that agent's token, delivered via Superfluid money streaming over 52 weeks. \$SPIRIT is the coordination layer that ties the agent economy together.

Holding \$SPIRIT does not make you a shareholder. It does not entitle you to a share of protocol fees as income. It does not create any legal claim against the issuer. All token functionality is exercised exclusively through on-chain smart contracts deployed on Base — not through Spirit Protocol Labs, Inc.

The supply is permanently fixed. No additional \$SPIRIT will ever be minted. There is no inflation mechanism and no burn-and-reissue loop.

## Where \$SPIRIT Trades

At the Token Generation Event (late July 2026), \$SPIRIT becomes available on the open market on Base. Spirit Protocol Labs has filed for admission to trading on **Coinbase** and **Kraken** under the EU's MiCA regulatory framework (Regulation (EU) 2023/1114), with Ireland as the Home Member State — meaning the filing passports across all EU and EEA member states.

You can also acquire \$SPIRIT directly on-chain via any Base-compatible DEX once trading opens.

## The Superfluid Wrapper

$SPIRIT is implemented as a **SuperToken** via the Superfluid protocol. This is not cosmetic — it enables programmable, continuous token flows: Constant Flow Agreements (CFA) and General Distribution Agreements (GDA) that stream tokens in real time rather than in batch transactions. When you receive agent token distributions as a $SPIRIT holder, they arrive as a live stream, not a lump sum.

## Backing and Audits

Coinbase Ventures and Union Square Ventures participated in the seed round at \$0.04. The Spirit Protocol smart contracts have completed an independent security audit; no critical vulnerabilities were identified. All contracts are publicly verifiable on Basescan.
